Queensland Beach Challenge
The Queensland Beach Challenge is a fun, competitive program to help keep Queensland’s beaches litter free, and to encourage local governments and their communities to work together to best manage beach environments.
Hundreds of beaches enter this competition every year, from right along the coast from as South as Coolangatta and into Torres Strait and the Gulf of Carpentaria. The job of visiting and judging each one is pretty popular. Launched in 1998 and celebrating 12 years, the competition challenges Queensland's coastal communities to prove they have the State's cleanest beach.
As we return to the beach at the end of winter, Keep Australia Beautiful Queensland has had a great response to launching its new Beach Challenge initiative for this year, with support being provided through the Australian Government’s Caring for Our Country initiative.
